I’ve loved seeing students develop and, of course, execute their ideas. So, if you hear of any job opening for a graphic designer pass them on to me, because there are always students looking. So even beyond graduation, I play an active roll when possible by connecting former students to potential opportunities. I try to keep in touch as much as possible. Indeed it is an honor to contribute to their lives, and, in fact, I often hear from working graduates through social media. For this reason, I actively seek to help students wherever they need help. So, I wonder, am I seasoned yet? I think “seasoned” is just a polite way of saying I’m old and I have been doing this a long time. In fact, I’ve even taught General Education Art Appreciation. I took a break from teaching in 2003 to work in both the music and design field. ![]() I have made a home in the university classroom since 1999. Furthermore, I hope my students will bring some visual sense to the world. A portfolio is a sampling of your best pieces of art and design and should demonstrate creativity, neatness and how you developed your ideas. It is a privilege to train future designers as well as creatives of all varieties. She says it jokingly of course, right, Amy? I admit I have a blast, even though there is paperwork of the non-art variety, and the occasional dramatic faculty member. Consequently, my wife says I must only play at work and that no one should have that much fun in a career. I’ve heard the cliché that says if you love your career you’ll never work a day in your life and I practice it. So, I want to share some of my students’ work with you. But, most of all, I enjoy coordinating some pretty rad student design work. Sure, there are great perks like flexible time (three months off during summer), and eternal campus life. In fact, it’s one of the best things about my career. I help students become graphic designers.
